Prerelease tournaments allow players to receive and play with cards from the upcoming Sword and Shield expansion up to two weeks before the expansion's official release date!
Each participant receives a Prerelease box containing a 22-card Evolution pack, four 10-card booster packs, and an exclusive foil promo card. The Evolution pack provides a solid foundation which, along with the booster packs and Energy provided by the Tournament Organizer, is used to construct a 40-card deck. Evolution packs and booster packs are available while supplies last.
Are there limits to attendance for Pokémon TCG: Sword and Shield Prerelease tournaments?
Players have no limitations to the number of events they participate in.

What are the prizes?
Tournament Organizers are provided with 3 booster packs per player to use as prizes. At our events, each player will receive 2 packs for playing. The remaining 1 pack per player will be added to the prize pool and distributed based on record.

What is the tournament structure?
The tournament is run using the Limited Format and Age-Modified Swiss pairings. See the Pokémon Tournament Rules for information about the Limited Format and Swiss. The number of Swiss rounds that will be played will depend on total attendance at the event. Players use a 40-card deck and play using four Prize cards.
What else happens at Pokémon TCG: Sword and Shield Prerelease tournaments?
Top Cut Events will typically host a Pokemon Sealed Draft, after every main event. Cost of a Draft event is $15.00 per player. Each player will receive 4 booster packs to "Draft" with those at his or her table. once all the cards from your initial four booster packs are Drafted, players will build a 40 card deck to challenge their opponents in a best of 3, 30 minute, single elimination match! The winner of an 8 man Draft pod is an additional 4 booster packs. This is an excellent way to gain more playtime and secure more of the newest Pokemon expansion.

What do I need to know?
- These events welcome players of all ages and skill levels. This is an excellent opportunity for new players to learn the ropes of the game and tournament structure, while scoring the newest cards before they reach store shelves.
- Bring your Player ID card, if you have one. If you don't have a Player ID, one will be given to you at the event.
- See the Pokémon Tournament Rules for more information about what to bring to an event.
- Make sure you arrive on time. If you are late for registration, you may not be able to play in the event!
- To participate in the event, you must be a player in good standing and abide by the Tournament Rules.
